Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin (Tamil: மு.க. ஸ்டாலின் Mu.Ka. Stalin born 1 March 1953) is an Indian politician, better known as M. K. Stalin, who was Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2009 to 2011. He was Mayor of Chennai from 1996 to 2002.
Stalin thrid son of Karunanidhi Stalin completed his graduation in history from Presidency College, Chennai in University of Madras.Stalin became the Minister for Rural Development and Local Administration in the Government of Tamil Nadu after the 2006 Assembly elections. On 29 May 2009, Stalin was nominated as Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by Governor
Stalin serves as the Treasurer and the Youth Wing President of the DMK. On 3 January 2013
Political career
M. K. Stalin was born in Madras, now Chennai, on 1 March 1953. He was named after Joseph Stalin His political career began when, as a 14 year old, he campaigned in the 1967 elections. In 1973, Stalin was elected to the General committee of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam DMK He came to limelight when he was jailed under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) for protesting against the Emergency. Stalin has been elected four times to the Tamil Nadu Assembly since 1989 from the Thousand Lights constituency in Chennai. Stalin became the city's first directly elected Mayor in 2001 Stalin was reelected Mayor .
The inactive and inefficient ADMK government has let down Tamil Nadu on all the fronts. Five years have been lost with no development. It is the citizens of tomorrow, the youth who will pay the price of a decaying state. In a quest of bring about an ideal, forward looking, progressive government in Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin is embarking on this state-wide tour.
Criss-crossing across 234 constituencies in one of the largest movements of participatory democracy in Tamil Nadu’s history, Thalapathy M.K. Stalin will travel across the state to hear people’s real issues beginning September 25, 2015. He will begin in Kanyakumari and conclude the tour in Kancheepuram on November 8, 2015. In the course of this tour, M.K. Stalin will meet and interact with all sections of the society, including farmers, fishermen and weavers, students, women, self-help groups, businessmen and professionals M.K. Stalin will spend time among the people listen to them, understand their aspirations and expectations. He will also remind the citizens of the good work begun by the party when it was in power and listen to the citizens on any feedback and suggestion it should implement, We, ourselves, as individuals are the catalysts to bring about change. M.K. Stalin wants to join you and will partner you in ushering the change.
